This is beautifully, perfectly put and such a good reminder because it can be so easy to judge, assume, suppose... and find in the end that something important was missed. <3 KatAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5686997867572223504.post-71941748939080353952013-05-21T14:18:50.732-04:002013-05-21T14:18:50.732-04:00@Paula, you are so right! In fact, I would even say it's quite normal in the birth of passion, to protect your experience by putting walls around it to keep out the intruders and the naysayers. It is how we form our own values. As we grow, though, we learn to trust ourselves and our beliefs enough to not be afraid of letting down those walls and allowing everyone to be as they are without fear.
@Nicole...Amen, that!
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06059951273542374898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5686997867572223504.post-50794168118771238502013-05-21T14:13:59.242-04:002013-05-21T14:13:59.242-04:00Lesley, thank you for this well-written and though...Lesley, thank you for this well-written and thoughtful post. It is nice to see your writing again and it ignites something in my heart.

As you speak about birth and religion, I can't help but be swept back to my world religions class (back in grade 11) where we compared different religions as being different paths on the same mountain. I see birth in the same way - we are all taking different paths to meet our babies and those paths all look different, present different moments of joy, different challenges, and yet, it is our path to take. As a doula, I have walked along side families choosing a variety of paths, picking different routes along the way for where they are in that moment in their lives. It is my job to stand by them, to honour their decisions, and to keep walking along side them. Birth is a journey however it unfolds is entirely truly personal. No right or wrong way. Thanks for writing this! Love, PaulaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
